Tip of the Week: 3 Great Features of Microsoft PowerPoint

Tip of the Week: 3 Great Features of Microsoft PowerPoint

PowerPoint has made a significant impact on the world, so much to the point of being synonymous with presentations. It’s the premier presentation software first introduced by Microsoft, and with countless cool features to explore, we’re confident that you can find a lot of use for this software. Today, we want to share some of our favorite lesser-known features to help you get more out of your presentations.

Smart Lookup Provides Additional Information

While working on a presentation, it might become apparent that you need more information. If you want to avoid using a separate application, running the risk of Internet distractions with it, you can use the Smart Lookup function. This will perform a search right within PowerPoint using the Bing search engine.

For example, you just select the word you want to search for and right-click it. You’ll see the option for Search [Word or Phrase] appear in the in-window search. You might see definitions, explanations, or other important information in it.

Zoom Into Specific Parts of Your Presentation

PowerPoint offers a way for users to jump between different parts of the presentation. You can use the following features:

  • Summary Zoom creates a slide that serves as a sort of a table of contents, enabling you to jump to different points in your presentation in whatever order you wish.
  • Section Zoom allows you to insert a slide-within-a-slide, giving you the option to take your audience on a bit of a planned tangent more easily.
  • Slide Zoom simply creates a direct link to another slide.

Increase Engagement with Morph

PowerPoint has provided animations for a long time, but the Morph feature is particularly useful. It simplifies the existing Animations tab to allow you to make simple changes more easily. Just select and duplicate the slide using Home > New Slide > Duplicate Selected Slides. Make the changes that you want to see the original slide morph to, and from the Transitions tab, use the option for Morph.

Enjoy these new features and be sure to experiment with all that PowerPoint has to offer!
